What are Leading Lines? These lines draw the eye into the image and create a sense of depth and movement. This image also shows the use of the Rule of Thirds composition method too. “I came across Steadman Uhlich in a photography forum where both of us participate, and I was impressed with his commitment to helping people. This image critique can be very beneficial and yet most photographers rely upon friends, family, or strangers on the photography forums. Those sources usually don’t provide a balanced and honest critique. For example, in their desire to say “nice” things about their friend’s photographs, they may not mention some of the weaknesses in the images that could be easily remedied or corrected.
On the other hand, some photography forum “experts” don’t offer balanced critiques either. The new photographer may find conflicting advice from sources they know nothing about. Seldom do the forum comments come with any kind of qualifications. So how do you know the critic is qualified to judge and advise you? Some forum advice may not fit your goals or situation at all and may just cause more confusion and more effort and delayed learning and growth.
